Photos are a way to share important people in the students' lives. In a plurilingual classroom it can feel very scary or be a place filled with many unknowns for students. Creating a sense of belonging and having familiar visuals can help a student feel connected and calm.

This can also spur on conversations in the classroom such as:

• How do you greet one another at home?

• What is one thing your family likes to do together?

• Why is this special to you?

• Students can have an opportunity to share about their photos and what makes them meaningful

• Extends a sense of comfort to the student in a place that might feel uncomfortable and full of unknowns.
