Pin on a map

Having a map on the wall of the classroom allows children to place pins on locations that their from, their family is from, or is special to them.

How to use this in the class?
Teacher provides a map, either printed or made of cork. Students get to add a pin to the location that is meaningful to them. Students can take turns sharing why they put the pin there and what makes it significant to them.

Why is this a useful tool in the classroom?
This interactive tool is great for students to visually see where their classmates come from and how we can open discussion on learning more about these locations and cultures.
