Feelings Wheel
How to use this in the class?
Print it out on a large format for the wall in the classroom. Discuss with children throughout the day, which emotion they are feeling and how all these emotions are a normal part of life and give tools to the students for how to process these emotions. There are varying styles and formats to Feelings Wheels, some provide visuals, and some provide more words for the emotions.
Why is this a useful tool in the classroom?
This is an interactive tool that is useful especially for younger grades, but really all students can benefit from. The basic feelings in the center can be more easily identified, but as we think and process the feelings we are having, we can pinpoint a more accurate emotion. This helps students and educators to work together, to find out why someone may be acting out or may feel overwhelmed.
